President Moon Jae-in on Nov. 25 expressed his commitment to "win-win cooperation" through culture between Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the ASEAN-ROK (Republic of Korea) Culture Innovation Summit at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan.
"Asia was the beginning point of Hallyu (the Korean Wave) and the first to sympathize with the most Korean-style content," he said in his welcoming speech at the summit.
"The culture of ASEAN is already international and its potential is infinite."
If the cultures of ASEAN and Korea meet, it will immediately become global culture," the president said, adding, "Let us go together from 'K-culture' to 'ASEAN culture.'"

Approximately 600 people attended the forum, which discussed cultural cooperation between Korea and ASEAN. High-profile participants included Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk, whose agency manages the world-famous K-pop boy band BTS, and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.
