A compilation of President Moon Jae-in’s presidential speeches was published on Aug. 6 under the title "Moon Jae-in President of the Republic of Korea Selected Speeches."
President Moon has been in active communication with the public on 286 occasions so far during his administration. Among those addresses and remarks, this compilation contains 33 selected speeches that drew particular interest from the global community. These include President Moon’s inaugural address to the nation when he took office to serve in the country's 19th presidential term, his address at the Körber Foundation in Germany, his address commemorating the 72nd anniversary of Korean independence, and the Panmunjeom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula. Alongside the president's speeches, it also includes a range of photos from his historic moments, and is 150 pages in total.
The compilation of speeches was released online on Aug. 3. With an initial run of 1,700 copied, it will also be distributed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea's foreign embassies overseas, international organizations and to members of the foreign press here in Korea.
Im Jong-seok, chief of staff to the president, wrote in the preface that, “This book reflects the president’s commitment to communicating and sharing more messages with the foreign press and international opinion leaders more actively. I hope that this collection of speeches provides you with a clear understanding of the Moon Jae-in administration’s first year."
